Vuoi che sia più scuro è il quattordicesimo ed ultimo album in studio del cantautore canadese.

Pubblicato meno di un mese prima della scomparsa dell’artista, l’album si focalizza attorno ai temi della morte e Dio. Una sorte di testamento spirituale e musicale.

You Want It Darker è un disco imponente, una catarsi risolutoria sul dubbio, sul disincanto di un’anima inquieta, ed è sicuramente uno degli album più ispirati e toccanti della sua lunga carriera. Un’opera maestosa in cui la musica, sebbene spogliata da arrangiamenti troppo ricercati, ricopre un ruolo perfetto per incapsulare perfettamente i testi ricchi e riflessivi di Leonard, la cui voce penetra nel buio di una luce con mille crepe. Una bellezza reale che non stancherà mai di essere ascoltata.

L’ultimo disco di un gigante.

Acciao di Sheffield è l’ottavo album di Joe.
Un signor disco, forse anche migliore di quei primi famosissimi. Merito delle solite corde vocali scartavetrate (che comunque anche nei momenti più prossimi all’autoparodia un pizzico di vita e dignità lo hanno sempre conservato), di un repertorio scelto con mano felice e dei musicisti in esso all’opera. In particolare, della sezione ritmica reggae per antonomasia, quella formata da Robbie Shakespeare al basso e Sly Dunbar alla batteria.

Joe Cocker è il terzo album di studio di Joe ed è uscito solo in Europa.
L’album raggiunse il n. 30 negli album degli Stati Uniti. Tuttavia, anche se ha ricevuto una risposta positiva dalla stampa, non ha fatto impressioni sulle classifiche britanniche e europee.
Invece è un grande album con canzoni formidabili e un Joe con una voce Sporca e rugosa come non mai.
Nel 1998, il disco è stato rimasterizzato e distribuito con il titolo Something to Say.

World of Wonders ti porta in tutto il mondo, attraverso Berlino, il Cile, parti dei Caraibi e il Nord America. Lungo la strada, Cockburn, che è sempre stato affascinato dalle contraddizioni della vita, è sia “abbagliato … in questo mondo di meraviglie” sia turbato, “… quando la vita non è così dolce”.
Bruce è un artista complesso che scrive di tempi complessi e World of Wonders fa un buon lavoro nel catturare questo suo essere.

Stealing Fire è il quattordicesimo album di Bruce è il secondo del periodo politico
Dopo aver visitato l’America Centrale, Bruce Cockburn ha registrato Stealing Fire, dove descrive con passione ed eloquenza ciò che aveva visto mentre era in Nicaragua e in Guatemala con un chiaro omaggio alla rivoluzione guidata da Sandinista in quel paese.
L’albumè totalmente immerso nel 80’s sound e questo ne limita il giudizio.
