The World of David Bowie è una raccolta, pubblicata dalla Decca Records nel 1970.
Uscita in Europa, Australia e Nuova Zelanda, contiene quasi tutte le tracce già presenti nel primo album di Bowie oltre a The London Boys, pubblicata solo su 45 giri, e alcuni brani inediti.
The World of David Bowie ripropone ben 10 delle 14 tracce dell’album del 1967; la raccolta è degna di nota soprattutto per la presenza di tre brani inediti: Karma Man e Let Me Sleep Beside You, registrate il 1º settembre 1967 agli Advision Studios e In the Heat of the Morning, registrata il 12 marzo 1968 negli studi della Decca Records.
Trovai questo LP, per caso, alla Standa di Via Grande.
Non sapevo della sua esistenza ma, essendo innamorato del Bowie di quei tempi, lo comprai.
Le canzoni denotano immaturità musicale ma anche i germi di quello che sarà Space Oddity.
